Landscape and visual assessments form a fundamental part of many planning applications, providing an informed projection of the visual impacts of a development upon the surrounding environment.
Fellows Environmental offer quality services to produce landscape assessments ranging in scope from visual appraisals to provide a baseline for minimising potential impacts in the early design stages of proposals, to full landscape and visual impact assessments (LVIA), which are a key component of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and the planning process.
Using a combination of site- and desk-based surveys and analysis, our methodologies are based on current guidance issued by:
- The Landscape Institute;
- The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA);
- The Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM);
- Natural England; and
- English/Scottish Heritage
Surveys are undertaken using professional photographic equipment and hardware, with data subsequently complied and presented using industry standard software packages including Photoshop and AutoCAD.
The following services can be provided:
- Photoviews and panoramas;
- Photomontages;
- 3D visualisations;
- Outline landscape and visual appraisals to inform site design and master-planning
- Standard LVIAs in support of planning applications;
- LVIAs to form part of EIAs (as defined in the Town & Country Planning Regulations 1999);
- Co-ordination and project management of EIAs including input into technical chapters; and
- Specialist landscape and visual assessments including dilapidation surveys.
